同比2008年，北京奥运会菲格罗亚参赛，前三天意外脊椎错位，比赛中抓取三次失败，全部失败，然后不知情的教练却是满脸责备，受伤的菲格罗亚当场痛哭失声。
然后这次意外导致所有人都对他不再抱有任何期望。2012年，伦敦奥运会上手术后的菲格罗亚满血复活，再次站在了奥运会的比赛场地。
这次他要拼尽自己的全力，只为实现自己心中的梦想，就是这一次，他成功站上了领奖台，夺得了银牌，但是他的梦想是站在最高的领奖台。
于是菲格罗亚又努力坚持了四年2016年里约奥运会，菲格罗亚已经33岁，这个年龄，对于一个运动员来说，已经算是高年龄了，12年的汗与泪全部都倾注在这一局上。
不只是为了个人的梦想，更是为了国家的期待，这一次他成功了，他再次泪洒现场，只不过这一次是喜悦的泪水，他俯身亲吻陪伴自己多年的杠铃拼搏了12年，终于拿到了属于自己的奥运会金牌。
最后，这名哥伦比亚举重老将在赛场上脱下了自己的鞋子，宣布正式结束自己的举重职业生涯，他也给了自己举重生涯一副满意的答券。
